A short trip from the madness of Houston and the overflow of Austin. Life in Round Top, while not simple, is life at a much slower pace. It's where clients linger a little longer for a conversation, friends personally drop by to say hello, or share local news. It's where some of the best from big cities have come to reinvent and reinvigorate. From it's world renowned, semi-annual Antique Shows, to its campy accommodations, niche boutiques, killer BBQ and drinks to die for, Round Top is where life is good, y'all.
HENKEL SQUARE
Henkel Square is an outdoor museum village, including eleven buildings, established in 1968 by Faith and Charles Bybee of Houston “to preserve and perpetuate an authentic representation of local Texas life as it was in the 19th century.”
Renovated by the Masseys, Henkel Square is now home to the best Round Top has to offer like Ellis Motel, Round Top Smokehouse, Melissa's Art Shop, and The Little Cheese Shop.
the muckleroy house
The Mukleroy house traveled 22 miles from Frelsberg, Texas area. Built by Mike Muckleroy in 1840 for his bride, after helping Texas win its independence from Mexico.
The house had three rooms downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. . The dog trot ran through the middle of the house separating the bedrooms. The kitchen was a separate building behind the house. The back porch has since been enclosed and serves as the bar.
